About the Book

Many Christians sense a call to influence others for Christ, but feel unqualified, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin.

A Life That Leads reframes leadership as something far more accessible than a title, platform, or formal training. Rooted in the New Testament vision of discipleship, it helps ordinary believers embrace a life of Christ-centered influence.

What this book does

Clarity

A biblical vision of leadership that doesn’t depend on a title or platform.

Formation

Leadership shaped from the inside out through life with Christ.

Discipleship

A practical pathway for helping others follow Jesus in everyday life.

Everyday impact

Confidence to live faithfully where God has already placed you.

Leadership begins not with position or authority, but with the person you are becoming in Christ.

Endorsements

How can we be the leaders that God calls us to be? That’s what I love about Josh Benadum’s A Life That Leads. It juggles the tensions between character and competence, so we can cultivate both the soul and the skills required to be a leader. This is a book for anyone wanting to transform their inner life and their outward leadership.

A deeply pastoral invitation.... This book reminds us that leadership is not an exclusive realm for a select few. It is a calling woven into the very identity of every disciple of Jesus.

In contemporary leadership, more are concerned about how we lead; while God is more concerned about how we live. “A Life That Leads” pivots it aright! Godly leadership does not operate on its own terms. As such, Josh Benadum offers a biblical compass towards the discipleship of leadership. Most significantly, he shows us that the first call of leadership is not just to advance the Kingdom. It is to abide in the King that the Kingdom might truly be advanced!

Like Josh himself, this book is both thoughtful and wise. In it he paints a beautiful and balanced picture of healthy Christian leadership; inviting us into the confluence of character, competency, and intimacy with God. A great resource for everyday Christian leaders.

I had the privilege of coaching Josh during his church planting journey, and what struck me then still strikes me now: he leads from a place of deep humility, genuine care, and a steady commitment to form people into the likeness of Christ. A Life That Leads reflects the way he actually lives and shepherds others. This book will help every believer see leadership as something rooted in character, presence, and everyday faithfulness.

What I love about Josh's writing is that it's not just instructive, it's wildly practical. It feels like a training manual for forming the kind of character that will develop elders within our networks. You can read this book like a field guide and then keep returning to it as you cultivate leadership in your own life.

In this well written book, Josh Benadum presents leadership as a spiritual vocation rather than a professional role. It calls readers to cultivate the interior life from which enduring influence springs, envisioning leadership as an act of love, alignment, and creative service for the sake of the world.
